Hi,
The HP Scan application is only compatible with Mac OS X 10.6 and below.
Your printer may be provided with a Full Software Solution or with Print, Scan and Fax functionality through Apple Software Update. knowing your printer model will allow to point you into the right direction.
Regards,
Shlomi

That's super helpful - I wish I had asked earlier. Does anybody know if a software update is forthcoming?

Hi TSCJ,
As mentioned in my previous post, could you please clarify your printer model?
It will be quite hard to provide you the correct information without knowing this information as there are hundreds of different models ![]()

Photosmart 4480.
I really like it. It does so much for so little ink and so little shelf space, so don't fancy replacing it.

Hi TSCJ,
Please make sure to update the latest driver by clicking the Apple icon and then Software Update.
Click Show Details and select any listed HP Update if available.
Once the latest driver through Apple Software Update been installed, you may scan using the scanning software provided for Lion through the OS (Print & Scan, Image Capture or Preview)
Below you may find the steps to scan using any of the provided scan methods:
