HP psc 2410 all-in-one freezes on hourglass

As the printer turns on, it starts up and then makes grinding noises and freezes with hourglass symbol.  I keep pulling the plug and restarting to no avail. Any suggestions?  Thank you!

Re: HP psc 2410 all-in-one freezes on hourglass

Don't know if this helps--we have the same problem, and I followed the troubleshooting directions on cleaning the 2410 on HP's website (I believe it was under the noises section). The noise went away and the 2410 functioned properly afterwards.

Now, though, a week later, it's doing it again, so I don't know if this is a temporary fix or not. We use the machine only a few times a week, so we turn it off after each use. I would assume, if you could get it working, and you didn't turn it off again, the problem would not reoccur, because it seems to be a warm-up/initializing problem.

I also tried the "partial reset" but it couldn't reset properly because it couldn't get past the initializing.

Let me know if this helps, or if you have any other suggestions. We are planning on purchasing a new machine because it's incredibly annoying :smileyhappy:
