Reinstalled perhaps a dozen times. From MSConfig defeat all start-up services (except Windows ones) and processes, including AV & AS. After 4th degree Install Scrubber. Doesn't help. Rather, it is an incredible time waster.

Uninstalled/Reinstalled a few more times this week, spending at least 3 hours on each process; nothing helped. there just is no Solution Center when I try to open it.
the tech support people said they would escalate it to the next level, all I need to do it tell them once again what OS, firewalls, RAM, processor, etc etc etc. So I did this, sent it right back to them, and haven't heard a word for two weeks.
I deal with a lot of tech support folks, but this HP tech support is undoubtedly the worst ! They really should be ashamed of themselves, even calling themselves tech support. They are just flunkies whose job it is to put customers off, over and over, until they just give up.
But super-hefty promotion budgets will keep HP going, no matter how lousy their products or their tech support.
I wouldn't dream of ever buying another HP product. their older printers were great: solid workhorses, but the last five years they've put out nothing but junk, and being able to sell them based mostly on marketing and their (once good) name.

Rick, You're definitely Not alone! Many people suffering with this one! I'm a pretty tech savy guy and I Been fighting this thing for over 40 man hours and counting. HP Tech support in INDIA took remote control of My Computer for over 6 hours one day and the dam thing Still don't work. After Hours and hours of Un-installing their software,i start the Process all over again and it WORKS........"ONE TIME"!!! As soon as i either power off the C8180 for a few minutes OR Restart my Computer,it's ALL OVER!! Nothing works and i'm very tired of fighting with it as well. All you get from HP is "Scrpted" messages if you get anything at All. I'm going to try to return mine If they'll take it back, but have no clue what to buy to replace it? I'd like a RELIABLE wireless Printer Scanner. Who needs the DVD Burner if it won't work wireless anyway? This is the biggest nightmare I've seen in Years! Ray in Florida..

Regarding HP Photosmart 8180
I feel for you bigmutt - I too have been in constant contact with tech support these past few days on the exact same issue - I can't scan in Solution Center (printer disconnected) even though the printer is on-line. I completely lost faith in HP tech support (after 3 chat sessions).
I finally gave up on the uninstall/reinstall routine and resorted to plugging a flash drive in the printer, and scanning to the flash drive. It defeats the purpose of wireless communications but at least I finished my Photoshop project.
The problem has to be in the software but I don't have the patience to wait for a patch. The printer is going back to the store.

Please add me to your list of frustrated HP Tech Support users! Like you I have resorted to online chat support for the previous 3 months rechecking all systems and reinstalling no less than 15-20 times. The HP Solutions problem has never been solved and now the printer isn't recognizing my computer. In short I'm convinced it's a software problem but it's obvious HP does not care about the incredible waste of time experienced by unsatisfied customers. My Photosmart C6180 All-in-One is like new but what good is it if it doesn't work?
