Hey, your problem sounds almost exactly like mine. One day, it's all fine, the next day notsomuch. But I've GOT A MAC! I am not used to this. I don't use the scanner much, but, now that I need it, it claims it's not connected. (Even though it is clearly a working connection.) I've always bought HP's in the past, because they are very Mac-compatible and I never had major problems before. But I- along with you Windows folk- don't seem to be gettin' the answers from HP!

I have 2 all in one HP printers on my wireless network, and can print to each printer from my 2 Windows 7 laptops. But find that the Solution Center software does not function properly. I have seen all of these replys and some suggestions from HP techs, but it appears the best solution next is to avoid HP products in the future. It seems to be clear that this problem with the HP Solution Center software has been going on for over a year, and even in Windows 7 they have no " Solution ".

Hello Dani -
Maybe you can help - I've posted here a few times with no success. Like others here, I went through two different 7000 series printers with the same problem that was never resolved. The problem is that the warranty for the second one they gave me had only a few months left because it began from the time they sent me the first one.
I've spent months with level 2 techies taking over my computer with no success. They finally told me it was my operating system - so when I reinstalled my operating system - it still didn't work. I tried installing the software on my laptop - and it still didn't work.
I kept getting the message that the printer was unable to communicate with the software - even though i could print pages - but could not scan.
Now since i'm out of warranty - they refuse to try and fix my problem or offer me a refund. Do you have someone at top level I could state my case to?

You think you've had it bad. I have spent over 6 months with tech support and no fix. I have had over a dozen techies take over my computer with no success. All I get is a case number, and someone will call me back. they never do, and I have to call back again and go over it all again.
They finally sent me a AIO officejet Pro L7780 - and guess what - I had the same problem! I was months again wth tech support - which they never fixed it - They Told me I had to restore the operating system! I f you've ever done that - you know how difficult it is, especially when you have a lot of data base programs.
Now get this - when I called them back to tell them that the restore didn't work - nor did me installing the software on a laptop - They told me it was out of Warranty!!!!
This can be really bad publicity for them - if anyone wants to join me in a protest - please click on my icon and send me a message.

all working fine since i added my photosmart c7280 on my win7 64 os in dec 2009. all of a sudden today i can print kinda, but i cannot scan from any program. I have uninstalled and reinstalled the software for win 7 64 bit from hp and it is still not working. Print is sometimes getting stuck in the print queqe. is this a scanner driver problem or is there such a thing. this printer was on my xp 32 bit and hp had me use 990c software. there is no 990csoftware for win 7. printing from " make a copy" is so stinking slow and it scans across it like 6 times. Printing from the Hp Creative Studio online does not print at all. I need help since my printer is 2 years old, hp will not help and they are really rude about it.When i tried to hook this printer up in dec. they tried to tell me my printer was faulty and i need to get a new one but i figured this out then.man this was an expensive printer for me to have to pitch. If i cannot resolve this i will not buy another HP. Please someone help!!

As you may have noticed sofware problems are not new to HP Printers after reading these Forums. May I make a few notes:
1.My investigations have shown that when computer reviewers (eg. PC Mags) have reviewed a printer, for example such as the J6480, they have also found software usage or even Vista Incompatibility.
2.A recent computer magazine article has mentioned that Vista mangles, generally printer software.
3.I suspect that it is a combination of both above.
4.When contacting HP Support they are limited to what the call centre is taught, and therefore what they can tell you. This being things such as settings on your printer. Actual indepth Technical suport is limited. Mind you this is the same as for example Apple computers which uses call centre type response groups. In Apples case I know that people have to specifically request Techical suport from a technician. You can see by this that the actual technicians do not want to be busy talking about problems, that is why they use a call centre type service.
5. I would recommend going back to the store and see if they have your particular printer hooked up to a computer. You can then make your own tests. I would suggest that while you are there that you ask for the printer to be hooked up to a Computer running Windows 7, and do some tests. Let the forum know of your results if you do this. I mention Windows 7 because in my research programs that did not work in Vista may work in Windows 7.
6.You can try a full uninstall, making sure all folders are uninstalled, and then do a full install. HP has a video and literature which you can follow.
