Please, someone pinch me and tell this will fix my $350 boat anchor. I'm out of town and cannot try this...Maybe now I will buy that HP Home Server I've been wanting. HP--it has already cost you the sell of a "netbook". I'm typing on a Samsung Nc10 because of this issue.

Thank you for your input DaniW, but I have already been through most of this before, in fact, most of it was attempted by an HP tech while I was on the phone with him.
After numerous uninstalling and installing attempts with the software CD (at least 15!!!), I finally got the HP Solution Center Icon to work (ie., it accesses the printer and no longer says "No HP Devices Detected") BUT, I still cannot get the HP Solution Center to access the Scan and Fax capabilities.
In order for me to scan, I have to use some other program (like Microsoft's scan or Adobe Photoshop), so I don't have the nice control over this function like I used to. I don't understand why this no longer works as it did before.
Faxing: I have to use the control panel on the front of the L7680. Therefore, I don't have access to the fax log, I can't fax through my computer, etc.
I have XP, service pack 3.
In all honesty, HP needs to work with Microsoft to find out what happened to cause all of us to have these problems. You need to issue a "patch" or a new software suite that we can replace the current one with. You would have a lot of (finally) happy customers if you would do this.
Sincerely,
Estelle

Thanks Dan but I am with Estelle. I have both Windows Vista 32 and 64 bit and the scanning does not work at all from the solution center and like her I have to use Paint. I ahve tried your executive help with no help but a new printer and I need to scan in all my business expenses every week.
Until you guys fix this, I am telling everyone I can to stay away from HP printers and in fact I work computers all the time and my friends are buying other printers because of my pain.
thanks

hmmm, well I guess misery loves company. My HP all in one (C4280) won't work w/my Mac either. So apparently it's not just a PC problem.
Currently saving for an Epson as my time is too valuable to waste on HP support. Tried online help, they told me they couldn't help me w/an "all in one" problem. Called the help line number... what a joke. Could barely understand the man (heavy accent, tons of background noise). After about 20 mins he told me I needed to buy an extended service warranty for the printer...
No go. I refuse to pay for service when I can barely understand the tech.

I Google it! Found an excellent site; can not mention here.
Helped to go somewhere that actuallyget to the root of the problems.
Have you tried to reset the printer?
Take the power cord off hold # 3and then turn theprinter on.
Bingo! No problems since. Sure beats buying anew printer!
It works ya’ll. ![]()
