Hello, HP!!!! Attention HP All-in-one users: massive problem with software!! Is it a virus??

Hello, HP!!  Are you even monitoring these message boards???? I have been looking at these messages, and we all seem to have the same problem.  Is there a virus?????  I have an HP Officejet Pro L7680 All-In-One--just recently I encountered some problems and was advised to reload the printer driver by an HP tech.  Then when I clicked on the HP Sollution Center icon, I got the message "No HP device detected".  I uninstalled the Solution Center program and finally (after several tries) was able to install a workable program, but it will not do anything with the scanner or fax components.  I know these are OK, because I can make them work manually, but not through the HP Solution Center program.  I too, was on the phone, and internet, for HOURS, trying to resolve my issues--with no resolution from HP!!!  I have been reading your messages and we all seem to be having the same problem!!!!  What is wrong with HP Support?  Why aren't you trying to help us, or even let us know that this is a widespread problem?  I am ready to drop-kick this printer out the door!

Re: Hello, HP!!!! Attention HP All-in-one users: massive problem with software!! Is it a virus??

I am with her as I have installed and uninstalled numerous times with no success.  Scanning works once but when you try it immediately after you scanned something it says it being used.

Plus sometimes I get a message looking for a scan.msi file that says it is gone.  I have installed the minimum and maximum number of options and still no success.   I am using Vista 64 and this new release is just junk

I have used their uninstall program plus a registry cleaner and still no success

These problems have been listed all over the internet without no real solution.

Like you I am about to throw it out the door and never buy a HP again.

It is so frustrating.

I have been having scanning problems also with vista - 64 bit.  I came across a message that said vista did not understand the scan button on my all-in-one.

It recommended scanning through Paint.  (Open paint, then under File select - from scanner or camera).  This allowed me to scan numerous times

tonite.  I guess vista doesn't want to talk to the HP software either.

Same issue.   Works great with XP laptop, but will only print on my Vista.  HP director will not work, nor does HP essentials.  Is there a solution?

Re: Hello, HP!!!! Attention HP All-in-one users: massive problem with software!! Is it a virus??

Here is the unfortunate solution to your problem.  I copied this from another user in a different thread so i can't take credit for it but i think he has the answer.  I've been battling with my new C8180 since it was first installed on a vista operated machine almost a year ago but now it is installed on an XP operated machine which didn't help.

"I had the same problem and also talked numerous times with

HP tech. I have a suggestion that will solve your problem once and for all. I
gave my HP printer to my sister who only uses it as a printer and bought an
Epson All In One instead. Quite frankly, HP doesn't know what the problem is
and I suspect that they just don't care. My life has been much more peaceful
since I got HP out of my office."

Seems like a good idea to me after a years worth of uninstall, reinstall, try this try that,  did you try reinstalling it blah blah blah.  Its to bad but I don't think i'll spend any more money on an HP anything ever, its just to risky.

Re: Hello, HP!!!! Attention HP All-in-one users: massive problem with software!! Is it a virus??

Thanks for the update and I have to agree with you that HP does not seem to care.  Maybe they are sitting back and just letting Vista taking the blame instead of figuring this out.

I did see where someone suggested I use paint to scan things in and that seems to work because it Vista hs trouble with the All in One configuration.

I mean how hard can this be for them to figure this out and come up with a solution especially since they wrote code.

Re: Hello, HP!!!! Attention HP All-in-one users: massive problem with software!! Is it a virus??

No Estelle it's not a virus...it's total inept, slop software from HP. That is not just throwing garbage out, that is FACT! It appears that it is still going on?  When the L7580 all in one came out 6 mos to a year ago +??, I bought it and COULDN'T INSTALL THE SOFTWARE properly or at all. Thank the Lord that I bought it at Circuit City because the FIreDog guys came out to help. I know Geek Squad, FIredog???^%$@#! ;( however I've found Firedog people are more knowledgeable and one in particular where I live. I've been around computers in my home/office since Commodore 64...so I'm no stranger. The Circuit City guys came out to my home office...7 times! I repeat 7 times above my own hours of attempts.  It came down to them recommending to Circuit City to take back the L7580 an give me another brand...all because we couldn't get the software to work or to work propertly. The hardware is pretty good but the software sucks big time... don't know who does it but HP needs to fire all and start over in that department.  I ended up with a Canon PIXMA MP970 and that is wrong also...it's sucking the life out of my wallet to run it... it sucks ink like an elephant sucks water. So now I am resoved to find out the best machine made...right, good luck and see if I can buy a refurbished one cheap...when it goes bad, throw it awayand save my blood pressure. Anyone have any recomendations :smileyhappy::smileyhappy::smileyhappy::smileyhappy:  I thought I'd make your day!  OH P.S. "HP are you even monitoring these message boards??? I HAVE A SUGGESTION THAT  WORKS AND SOMETIMES DOESN'T WORK. Every publically (stock) traded

company must file an annual report. In that report are the officer and board members of that corp. Some companies list executives all the way down to middle managment. I usually pick out the lowest and applicable position in the report. Send a letter to that person at the co hqs. Most times these people are appreciative...some actually see your problems and take some action and then the "lifers" who are filling a square don't care. This good hardware and poor software problem at HP is easily fixable and should be noted to management. I am sending a letter...if enough people send a letter, maybe just maybe they will wake up??????
