Is the problem Vista or HP?????????

Does anyone know the best printer to use with Vista premium? One that doesn't drink ink and is an all-in-one? I have the c5280 that prints on CD's, 4x6 paper holder, 8 1/2x11 paper holder. Printer, copier, scanner no fax. With all the problems and trying to find new software, etc. I thought someone may have run upon a reasonable priced printer that will work good with Vista. Is it HP or Vista? Which is the largest problem for us?????
Any suggestions is appreciated.:womanmad:

Re: Is the problem Vista or HP?????????

Has anyone found a solution besides buying a new AIO? I have the same issues running XP Pro 32 bit. I can print from any client on the lan, but no scanning or faxing.

Re: Hello, HP!!!! Attention HP All-in-one users: massive problem with software!! Is it a virus??

This is without a doubt the WORST product I have ever purchased for our computer, and the customer (non) service is even worse. I bought this "all-in-one" primarily as a scanner, and IT DOES NOT SCAN at all. Have wasted literally hours, as I'm sure all of you have, with all of the nonsensical and non-working "patches" and "fixes", etc, as well as e-mailing and trying the "live support". It is a joke. I completely give up at this point. Has ANYONE been able to get one of these things to scan at all (with the Vista OS)?? If so, please enlighten us. I'm ready to return this pos now. I've NEVER seen a product so incapable of working out of the box (or even with the plethora of ineffective support measures) and one that provides such an array of error messages, excuses, etc!!!

Yeah, using "paint" (an application FROM THE COMPUTER!!) is the ONLY way I was ever able to produce ANYTHING (albeit with laughable clarity as you might expect). This should really rise to the level of FRAUD when a company is advertising that their product will work with a given OS and it clearly DOES NOT!! I know that I personally have wasted hours of my time - which HAS A VALUE, and that I have been unable to scan a single thing, which is why I purchased this pos - to scan items for sale on ebay. Again, HERE IS A VALUE - not to mention the pain and suffering (and cursing and muttering) to which I and all those around me have been subjected to. WHERE ARE YOU, JOHN EDWARDS????

Really I just would they would fix it. I have owned this thing for about a year, and it has worked flawlessly. I believe that Windows update probably killed it. SP3 maybe? This machine replaced an old work horse (Epson 800) with a print server. Once again, are they listening because there hundreds, if not thousands of complaints no matter what search engine you use. By the way, I can scan using the "web" scan feature via a web browser.

I have had an Officejet 6310 since March 08. I installed it on my home network and when I first bought it; all I was running on my home computers at that time was Windows XP. No issues ever, the solution center works fine each and every time I need to use it. BUT, when I bought my brand new, high-horsepower HP desktop with Windows Vista Home Premium 64 bit, THAT'S WHEN THE TROUBLE BEGAN. And, like everyone else in this thread, the HP solution center will just not run correctly, no matter how many times I have reinstalled the software. I have now logged 4 sessions with HP tech support, each running from 1.5 to 2+ hours, and the problem has never been resolved. After reinstalling the software, the solution center will operate correctly for the first session, but after that it goes back to the same error message 'No HP devices detected, solution center will now close". I simply cannot believe that HP apparently thinks their customers don't mind completely uninstalling and reinstalling their AIO software each and every time they want to use the HP solution center to operate the equipment! [Edited to remove content in violation of Rules of Participation] This is unacceptable!

Re: Hello, HP!!!! Attention HP All-in-one users: massive problem with software!! Is it a virus??

I share the frustration of the many people responding to your problem!

I have been working on this problem since before Thanksgiving. I have talked to FIFTEEN Chat Technicians, TWO Technicians in India, ONE Supervisor and

ONE Case Manager. The last technician confirmed that my problem has been "escalated to the next level"  and I would be contacted "within the next 24 hours. THAT WAS FOUR DAYS AGO!

I had been using my Officejet J 5750 for about a year without any problem. One day, I scanned a document into an E mail document and the program has not worked properly since. I can scan thru Windows "Camera & Scanning " program, but cannot download the HP Solutions Center program. I have tried downloading from the installation CD (get an "access denied" message toward end of download) I have also tried downloading the software from the HP download site at least TWENTY times and either get a "Device Setup stalls at 7/7" or "Configuring Your Product" stops at 96% -step 4/4 (unplugging and reiunstalling the USB cable does not help! I have tried every action suggested by the Tech's without success!

Like the rest, I am completely disgusted! Both Techs in India only offered to sell me a refurbished printer as a solution!

Don't buy another HP product!!

Re: Hello, HP!!!! Attention HP All-in-one users: massive problem with software!! Is it a virus??

Well, I had a previous HP all in one printer and had lots of problems with the scanning feature, so this time I bought a Canon Pixma MP980 what a wonderful machine.  It is also wireless and does a wonderful job on pictures.  I am running it with Vista and have not had a lick of problems with it.  I am running Vista Home Premium with Service Pack 1 (64 bit) not sure if that matters, as I am just an end user!  I am not a novice with computers, but I sometimes feel pretty stupid when solutions do not work and I have followed directions explicitly, but perhaps that was the problem!  :smileyhappy: Another great feature about the Canon printer that I have is that it has a separate print cartridge for each color and now there is a new added color, "grey"  it makes B & W photos come to life!  Anyway, I wish you all luck with your HP printers.  I am glad I didn't get one and I doubt it is the fault of Vista.  Tech support with HP is about as bad as most.  Too much out sourcing to India.
