Hp Photosmart 309a Scanning Connectivi ty

I have set up a wireless network and can print from my IBM PC to the 309a. However, I cannot scan from the 309a to the PC or by using the HP Solution screen I cannot initiate the scanning due to the 309a not seeing the PC and the PC indicating the 309a is disconnected. I disabled the firewall with no success. I have also truned off the 309a and back on with no success. Any idea as to why the scanner will not work over the wireless network while the printer function works fine.
I also scanned directly to a USB drive, howvever the file is a VSF file and is not usable on the PC.

I am surprised no one has replied to you - I have been away for a while so did not see your message
I have a C309a and noted that scanner connection problems seem to have gone away after updating to software version 13
This is downloadable from the HP driver pages - so see when you start up the solution center if you have version 13 ???
If you don't have the latest version completely uninstall your existing installation and reinstall using version 13

Now you have installed version 13 of the c309a software which uses solution center 13 please explain exactly what works now and exactly what doesn't work

Hi,
In order to scan from the front panel of the product, scan from Solution Center should be working first. What error do you get while scanning? Are you able to scan from EWS? You can check more details on scanning from EWS and troubleshooting steps to tackle the scan communication error in the following document .Although this doc might not refer to the error message that you're getting while doing a scan, the steps should still apply

So, every time I want to scan I must: turn off the computer, turn off the product, and then turn off the router, then in the following order, turn on the router, turn on the product, and then turn on the computer?

Hi,
You don't need to do that every time you scan. This is just one time when you see the error 'scan cannot be completed...' as the error indicates that if there is another device on the network that is accessing scanner. By turning off and on the devices on the network the IP addresses for individual devices are assigned in order and no 2 devices (IP addressess) will start pinging the scanner at the same time.
