1) Which software should be version 13 (or higher): The HP Solution Center, or the basic driver software?
2) How do I determine which version I currently have? With most programs, you find it in About section of the Help menu, but that is not available with this.
3) Would the current Version:14.1.0, 243.22M (Full Feature Software & Drivers) be what I would want now? i.e. has 13 been replaced with this now?

I have a photosmart c309 and have connnected it to a new Mac. Whenever I try to scan a picture, I get the message, "sorry, scanner could not be initialized. Scanner could not be found" I am trying to do a project that involves a tremendous amount of scanning pictures and HAVE to have this function. This is a very new printer and I am going to return it if I cannot get this function. I love the printer every other way. Is there a solution to this. I am not terribly computer savvy and find the other answers pretty daunting.

My 10/9/09 note said I always get error msgs when trying to scan. The HP 10/12/09 response was no help.
It may take 3 0r 4 times to finally connect to 309a, but once I do connect, I can scan multiple docs.
My opinion -- HP did not properly test this all-in-one, which resulted in frustrating, upsetting, non-functioning "promises".
