Well, this document should at least allow you to scan to your computer, just not from the printer itself:

I do not see any such icon.

 

I managed to find scan settings in the Start Menu.  I clicked on a button for "Scan To Settings".

 

It gave me the same problem I have had trying this before, that is, a permanent hourglass on the desktop with a window that will not disappear unless i reboot the computer.

 

This is getting very frustrating.

 

All I want to do is use the scanner feature.

 

I guess i will have to use the "Scan from Windows" workaround.

 

I saw in the thread there was a link to another thread and in that thread there were instructions for creating a link to activate the "Scan To" settings.  Next time i have another hour I will look at it.

 

Any other suggestions?
