Hello cdanan.

Please, perform a self test to check the printer functionality. Press and hold Cancel button and then press Color Start. The printer will print a test page. If this looks good (Black and Colors are visible) then your printer is ok.

Now perform a copy while the scanner lid open and check if the light is turning on. If it's not turning on, then it might require some repair.

Thank you. The test page was fine, but the light was not on when I tried the copy function.
