Hi,

I got the Fault code on the printer  0xc18a0401.  I opened up the printer to find that the Magenta ink cartridge had emptied itself all over the inside of the printer.  After much cleaning and faffing around trying to reset the printer so that I didn't get the error message:

Using soft tissue initially  on the rail and Printer Tools to try and clean the heads etc.

I eventually got it to print a test page with the new cartridges fitted.  There wwas a little bit of blotching with the magenta ink, which I initiall thought might be residue I had been unable to clean.  Much to my horror the new magenta cartridge again has emptied itself into the printer.  Could this be highly coincidental that 2 cartridges from the same batch are faulty or something more serious like a hardware problem.

Many thanks

Phil

@PHILW1,

Welcome to HP Forums, this is a great place to get support, find answers and tips.

Thank you for posting your query, I'll be more than glad to help you.

I understand that you are unable to print from your HP Photosmart 3210 all-in-one printer.

This issue could occur if the printhead is damaged or the cartridges are not vented properly.

Let's go through a few steps to resolve this issue.

And here's the step by step guide for you in the link: Ink System Failure, '0x...' Error Displays

Let me know how this works.

You have a good day ahead.

Hi Rainbow23

Thanks for trying.  I managed to get the printer back on line after much cleaning and button pressing .  However, the test pages printed blotchy and it's because the magenta just leaks out again.  HP no longer support my device as it is a bit ancient so can't do any further updates on software/firmware.   I guess it's time to stop throwing good money and time at it and buy a new one!

Regards,

Phil
