Re: L7590 scan error

I have recently encountered the same SEH (Structured Exception Handling) error while scanning with the L7650.  Using an HP A6567c computer with 64 bit Vista Home Premium, IE8, all of the latest computer and scanner software and firmware updates (to 4/2009). In an effort to correct the problem, the drive was reformatted and all software was re-installed from scratch. I Have had many problems with this scanner in the past, such as the "hpqscnvw has stopped working" message, but this appears to be a new problem. Any explanations of what could be causing this problem and how to fix it would be appreciated. The scanner stops scanning and the following error message is displayed:

SEH Exception: 0xc0000005

Address: 0x04fc4d4b

LoadAddr: 0x04df0000

Re: L7590 scan error

I have just had the same error with my L7580. First time had to reinstall all software as it seemed to have corrupted the printer drivers.  Now working intermittently

Not the first time I am having problems with this unit and Vista.  Anyone from HP want to tell us what they're doing to fix these bugs?  This is not a cheap all-in-one and after having to send my first one back in 2007 as it didn't work out of the box, and now enduring multiple software issues, I am becoming less and less likely to re-up with HP next time around.

Re: L7590 scan error

[ Edited ]

I have the same problem with my Officejet J5780 and Vista Ultimate X64.

When I try to scan I get the error message: "SEH Exception: 0xc0000005" etc.

When I restart the HP program I get an error message that says there is a problem with the communication with the scanner, please control so the device is turned on...

I also tried the released patches "Critical Update to Enhance Reliability of Network and USB Connectivity and Improve System Responsiveness While Printing" and "Critical Update to Correct a PC to Printer Communication Issue"  Critical Update to Correct a PC to Printer Communication Issue"
But that did not solve anything..

It worked without any problems with WinXP Pro.

HP come on and fix this serious problem! My printer/scanner has not worked since I installed Vista last summer...

Re: L7590 scan error

Hi all,

There are few steps you can try to eliminate the cause. Follow the steps 6-8 from the document give below:

http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?docname=c01372399&cc=us&dlc=en&lc=en&jumpid=reg_R1002_US...

If you see an error even while scanning from windows imaging application, then issue could possibly be with the driver and requires complete uninstall and reinstall of the driver and software. Try the steps above and see if it helps.

Thanks

Re: L7590 scan error

The scanner has not worked on my L7590 since being switched to Windows Vista by my company.  I spent over an hour with HP trying to fix the problem without results.  I don't think they know how to fix the problem.   It does not seem to be compatible with Vista.   Also, the paper jams everytime I try to use the feeder.   Not real thrilled with this product.  It may be out in the middle of the road as a speed bump in the near future.

Re: L7590 scan error

The above suggestion by Mr. Kumar did not work. As previously stated, the drive was reformatted and all software re-installed and the problem continued to arise occasionally.

I'm pleased to report, however, that the new (1/2010) 64-bit Windows 7 driver works great. It also contains some nice new features. I've used it since it was released, and for the first time since the L7650 was purchased in 2007, have not experienced crashes while scanning.

If you are having the same problem I described, you can install Windows 7 on your computer and upgrade to the Windows 7 drivers and it should solve your problem.

With regard to the paper jams, that's a separate issue. I stand at the feeder holding the stack of pages and allow only one sheet at a time to feed through. A crude but workable solution.
