i have an HP L7780 all in one scanner printer etc. the unit worked fine until a few months ago when I started to receive the followingmessage when trying to scan
An unexpected internal error ahs ocurred. Click OK to close the program, and then try one of the following:
Restart the program
restrat teh PC and then try again
Reinstall the photo and imaging software and ttry again
I contacted HP and spoke to someone at their south african call centre who was unable to assist, we tried uninstalling and reinstalling the software to no avail.
he thought that the issue is caused by Microsoft Vista SP1.
this was a few months ago, I recently contacted HP who refused to assit as the printer is now out of warranty and they clainmed not to have any record of my previous calls.
Needless to say I am at my wits end with this machine and feel like burying a sledge hammer into it followed by a trip to my local Canon stockist to buy a new printer.
is there anyone out there who can provide me with a fix for this rather annoying problem

Thanks for your response
1) Printer is connected via WiFi
2) I can copy without using thecomputer
3) i set up the unit using a network cable then ran the wireless configuration on the printer.
hoefully you can shed some light on my problem

Please download the following software here:
Install that software and then re-run the installation disk for your printer.

I,ve downloaded the software and attempted instal but when it reached the point where it asks you to connect the printer with a USB cable it would not continue.
this software is for the C5000 printer- will it work for my printer

I've downloaded and installed software for C5500 and reinstalled the software for the L7780 nad now have a smarter looking inversion of HP Solution Centre but the **bleep** still wont scan.
am i daft and unable to follow simple instructions or is the printer jinxed????
I am seriously contemplating dusting down the sledgehammer

I had the same problem with my printer. When I installed the different printer, it changed the HP Solution Center but started to scan after I restarted the computer.
I have no idea why it worked for me. Good Luck

Hi everyone... i have that same really weird problem here...
i have a HP IQ510la with Vista Home Premium 64bit with an OfficeJet Pro L7780 connected wirelessly to my computer... In the installation everything went fine. I can print, i can view the printer through a web browser, i can do Webscan also. But, when it comes to scanning through Solution Center im getting a UNEXPECTED INTERNAL ERROR Window...
I reinstalled the software like a hundred times... still cannot scan wirelessly through the Solution Center.
I've talked to HP support and they were not able to solve this problems... they just gave me a "alternate" solution to scanning...
This is how i installed the printer driver and software:
- No firewall
- Kaspersky Down
- %temp% folder cleaned
- no printers icons in the printers page
And still no go... Any hints on how i can resolve this issue?... So far HP just told me to do a Restore Point to when the Solution Center was working...

I was just about to give up on this issue, and was researching what scanner WOULD work with VISTA, and stumbled on this - and it WORKED! I am so happy I don't have to buy a new printer or Windows 7 now.
