M1212nf Scans Come Out Huge When Outputted

Hello all,

I have read some of the posts on here regarding scans coming out large but none apply to the m1212nf it seems. The only option you get for scanning is "Scan To". I have gone through all the settings, including setting what DPI, color mode, and the scan size. No matter what I change it to, when the PDF is outputted, it comes out at approx 34.44 x 45.10 inches when scanning a normal letter size paper. It doesn't matter if it is scan to e-mail or scan to file, it is the same result. Even using the TWAIN preview  dialog, it shows that it scans the correct size ~8.5x11, but when outputted to a PDF, shows as 34.44 x 45.10. I have two of these in our office, one networked, and one local through USB. It happens on both of them on different computers, so it is not an isolated incident. If anyone can please give me any insight on how to resolve this it would be appreciated.

Re: M1212nf Scans Come Out Huge When Outputted

I have the same problem with the M1212nf and we just bought 30 of them.

A simple 8.5 x 11 pdf scan shows up as 34.67 x 45.64 in Acrobat, if I scan directly from Acrobat the scan is fine but not all our users have the full version of Acrobat. This was never a problem when we used 5590c scanners its only an issue with the scanning software for the M1212nf.

I know others have this problem because I have read posts from last year about it in the forums, and why hasn't HP fixed this?

Still having the issue. If anyone has any information on how to resolve this it would be greatly appreciated. It has been almost 2 months and I still cannot get the scans to scan at a reasonable size.

Re: M1212nf Scans Come Out Huge When Outputted

I'm having this issue too.  I bought the M1212nf on 4/13/2011.  Normal letter paper size PDF's scanned by the HP "scan to"  have page size 34.67 x 45.86 inches.  These then print on multiple pages with each page having only part of the whole document.  If the same document is scanned via the Adobe Acrobat scan function then the page size is correct.  :smileysad:

Have you resolved the issue with the Scan To or are you just using Adobe Acrobat scan function as a work around?

Re: M1212nf Scans Come Out Huge When Outputted

Just got a M1212MF.  I read review on Cnet and a few other places including comments on the hp site.  No person stated the issue I am finding in the forum.  They still don't have any clue.  I just worked with tech support today 9/9/11.  They still claim all the normal stuff - new fireware and resintall the driver.  Their current plan it hte printer must be bad....(interesting considering Acrobat scan method works).  They currently want to trade printers with me.  I am questioning if I will just end up returing it and getting another brand printer.  Acrobat work around seems to work, but I should not need to do work arounds for a brand new HP printer.  I would have figured HP knew how to make printers.

Another interesting thing I found is the resolution is fixed to 300 dpi if you use the auto feed during the scanning process.  You can only select the resolution you desire if you do one sheet at a time using the flat bed option.

Re: M1212nf Scans Come Out Huge When Outputted

I've also got it working by using the Acrobat work around. A workaround is not a solution though. I've googled countless times to resolve this and can't. If anyone else has this same printer and has resolved this problem please let us know. Obviously HP support is of no help.
