OCR for c309g all-in-one

Has anyone found a way to get the OCR software installed to be able to scan documents so that the text may be edited?  The manual says that after selecting "save to file", I should be able to select a .rtf or a .txt type of file, but those options are not on the drop-down menu.  FRUSTRATING!

Re: OCR for c309g all-in-one

I have a C309a all in one.  After I scanned a document I clicked on options and the Readiriss OCR registration page popped up. I completed the required fields and the window disappeared.  Nothing happened and I can't find the link or program in computer files or on install disc,  I have Imac 10.6.6.  I'm on hold now with HP customer service.  I'll let you know what's up when I am done

Re: OCR for c309g all-in-one

I too am frustrated. I have c309a. And IMac. I downloaded the entire mac HP latest software. Installed after uninstalling previous software. Still no real sign of OCR.  When I select documents, and then tell it to save in text, it results in blank page, even though it has .txt on it.   I don't think it is accessing any OCR.

HP seems bent on self destruction.  It used to be real helpful. Now, the message is you are own your own. Well, when such non user friendly stuff is made, they can't give up on service. If they make so very easy to follow and work stuff then it makes sense. I'm not impressed. I have been frustrated for several years with HP. I will switch to another company next time and also pass the word to twenty people. But probably most are all the same. There really isn't competition. Large means too big to do it right....david

Re: OCR for c309g all-in-one

Hi,

for installing OCR, perform below steps:

1) Perform Disk Cleanup. (Start >> All Programs >> Accessories >> System Tools >> Disk Cleanup)

2) Open below link and save the OCR software to desktop

3) Run the file after the download is complete.

4) If the error appears stating "This update does not support any of the HP device......", do not close the message. This is very important.

5) Open %temp% folder

6)  Open 7z folder

7) Check for folder “ocr_web_pack”.  Copy this folder to desktop.

8) Click OK on the error message

9) Open “ocr_web_pack" folder which is copied to desktop and double click the "SETUP.EXE" file
