I have been trying to solve this problem ever since I bought my OfficeJet Pro L7680, almost two years ago.
It is supposed to receive incoming faxes and store them to memory, even when turned off. It doesn't! It is advertised as being able to receive and store faxes to memory when off, and two tech support people confirmed that it is supposed to work that way.
I use my all-in-one for a very small business. I don't receive a lot faxes, so I don't want to leave my printer on 24/7. Also, I may not be in when a fax comes in so I can't turn the printer on. One of the major reasons I bought this particular printer was so I didn't have to leave it on all of the time.
I have contacted tech support numerous times, and I thought the issue was resolved, but the next time someone tried to fax me (and the printer was off), the fax did not come through. It is still under extended warranty, but I can't get it taken care of through HP, although they have tried. When I call, I get some India-based techie, that reads out of a book and I can't understand what he is saying anyway, so I thought I would try getting an answer from this forum.
When someone tries to send a fax, and the printer is off, they receive a "No Answer" message.
If anyone has had this problem or can tell me how to solve it, I would be very appreciative.
Other than not being able to receive a fax when off (and a small problem with printing envelopes, which I can work around), I love my OfficeJet Pro L7680.
