HERE IS THE SOLUTION I HAVE FOUND FOR "NO SCAN OPTIONS":  Open the HP Solution Center, From the Solution centers home page, click on "Settings" on the bottom right of the panel. This will bring you to another page, here you will find "Scan Settings". Place your cursor over it and a pop-up should prompt you to, "SCAN TO...SETUP".

There should be two separate columns within this window, with an option to add scan options on the right hand side. Highlight items on the left, and click "ADD" to move them to the front panel column on the right. This should fix this frustrating problem.

           Hope this helps.

Re: Officejet 4500

Had same problem and after a week of searching gave up and called tech support 800-474-6836.

There is a patch and utility for this problem:

CPE_SCAN_DESTINATION_UPDATE_hpcom_001_003.exe [1/1, 28.47M]
Took almost an hour due to the slow internet connection diagnostic utility and remote computer hookup but it now works.
This is a common problem with Vista and Windows using the HP4500.
I lucked out and got a tech who knew what to do. The scan to locations are now linked and it is a software defect.

Re: Officejet 4500

Just got my HP Officejet 4500 a couple of months ago.  To scan:  go to My Computer, click on Office Jet 4500, Select the program to launch your scan, then you can Scan or Preview.   This worked for me, hopefully it will work for you! :smileyhappy:

Re: Officejet 4500

Can you scan multiple pages with the ADF using a Officejet 4500?

Re: Officejet 4500

I haven't tried that yet.  I scanned one page on the glass itself.

Re: Officejet 4500

I too have a new 4500 510g. Cannot get the software to load - keeps failing, and solution recommended don't work. downloading driver for scanner says I have a new product already installed so it fails. And obviously HP doesn't offer customer service - just forums for others to deal with guesses. So will just take all in one back and get a epson, canon or brother that works and has customer support. Too bad HP ignores customers.

Re: Officejet 4500

Sounds like you got a lemon. Definitely take it back - there is a warranty, but if HP doesn't have anyone you can talk to to resolve the problem than I would look into buying another brand.
