I think I may need to install the Firmware also to solve my problem.  I ran into the "enter proxy" also,  I don't have a "proxy."  If you don't mind, How did you download the Firmware ? 

I am using WiFi to access my printer from laptop.  Should I connect via USB and do it that way ?

I've updated the firmware and changed the power socket, but the printer still crashes during copying.

The symptom is exactly as described in the original post -- random crashes while copying, while printing/scanning work fine. When it crashes though -- I can turn off/on the printer via the power button, rather than having to unplug the printer. Still this is VERY annoying when it crashes so often.

The firmware version is SYM2FN1126AR dated 2011-08-22.

Any ideas?

Do you get any error messages on the printer display?

Remove all the printer cables except for the power cable, and let me know if you still have the issue when making a copy?

I have had this problem since the printer was new, still there after updating firmware.

If I have used the scan to email function on desktop or on the printer screen, the copier function will freeze after scanning and half feeding a sheeting. If the cancel button is pressed it feeds a blank sheet and the machine locks completely showing "copy cancelled".

The only way to get it back is to turn it off with the power button. It will copy again until the scan function is used.

Any help would be appreciated.

Guys, the only way is to return the printer to HP. They will fix it or replace it. Do it now. Or after the warranty it's not worth fixing it because the cost will be too high.
