Officejet 6500 wireless E709n FAX error

I am unable to send a fax.  When I try, I get error 344.

 

What does this error mean?

I have an HP wireless 6500 printer connected with a router.  The fax and scanner have failed.  I have in the past fixed the problem by reinstalling the printer driver. This no longer works.  How can I fix it and how can i prevent it from happening again?
