OfficejetPro 8500 scan and copy problem

[ Edited ]
My new HP OfficejetPro 8500 is outputting scans and copies that are competely black.   It prints documents (color and black& white) just fine.   Scans and copies, not so good - all black.  I have searched the device and the manual for possible settings to tweak, but have found nothing that addresses the problem so far.  Any help or ideas will be appreciated!

Hi,

Try the following steps to isolate the problem

1) Plug in to direct wall outlet and not thru surge protector.

2) Do a ‘Blank Copy’: Do not place anything on scanner glass, close the lid and press the Copy Button, if the output is ‘Black’, then this seems to be scanner issue. You would need to contact HP Support

If the the output is not all 'Black' then please describe as what you see on the print out.

Re: OfficejetPro 8500 scan and copy problem

The OfficejetPro is already plugged into the wall (not a surge protector).   I tried a blank copy and it's black.   Not happy, it's brand new!    So I have to take it to a service center?   many thanks for the assistance

Re: OfficejetPro 8500 scan and copy problem

I received a blank white sheet.  The day started great and scanned many images.  Then It started with blurred scans to my computer.  Went and bought new ink.  Rebooted printer and plugged to the wall as suggested.  I just tried a color copy and it printed Black and White.  Scan to computer is still black and white.  Now what?  Printers only last for 1 and half year or less?  The prints from the web are color.

Re: OfficejetPro 8500 scan and copy problem

@TABJU have you tried the hard reset steps given above?

Hard Reset:

Unplug the power cord from the printer and wall

wait 30 sec

Plug the cord back into the printer, and then plug it into the wall (make sure the cord is plugged into the wall, and not a surge protector)
