Oh for crying out loud scan already darn it!

Okay here's the deal.  I bought my wonderful HP All-in-One 6310 printer about a year ago.   OMG! I thought it was the greatest invention ever! Then about once a month it would just disapear from my laptop.  How could it not find it?  It's sitting right there!  I followed all the advice like unistall and reinstall the software.  It worked for awhile but man I was getting tired of doing it.  Now... it disapears every other friggin day and when I uninstall and reinstall the bugger it prints, but I get a lovely "Unexpected Error has occured" when I try to scan anything at all.  I tried the dreaded uninstall reinstall thing several times over the last few days and it's still not working.   Now I'm usually quite Zen, but I'm about to throw this sucker out the window!  Can you PLEASE HELP ME!!!!!?

Thanks so much for reading my ramblings

Re: Want Good Answers? Ask Good Questions!

I wish I had an answer.  I have had the same problem and deleted and reloaded software several times.  Works for awhile then quits.

Re: Want Good Answers? Ask Good Questions!

Oh bummer... doesn't look to promising for me does it.  What are the chances that HP or MicroSoft will pitch in and get me an All-in One that actually works?

Re: Oh for crying out loud scan already darn it!

And all of a sudden, this is happening to me, too.

However, here are the changes... I had to reformat my hard drive, and then loaded Windows 7 (Beta) on it. Everything appeared to be working fine. I was using it over our home network.

Suddenly, today, no matter what I do, I cannot get it to scan... it tells me it is not hooked up to the network. What crock of doo-doo is that? I tell it to print (also over the network) and it spits it out just fine!! It just refuses to scan. And I use the scanner often, sometimes daily.

It tells me: NO SCAN OPTIONS. Refer to device documentation to troubleshoot.

Re: Oh for crying out loud scan already darn it!

Hi, new to this so let me explain my situation. Have a 7310 Officejet all in one. Same as everybody else, my machine was working fine up until HP had an updateback a few months ago. After this update same as you all, my scanner disappeared from my list. Did the uninstall/ install thing, that didn't work, restart computer all the crap that the error message stated to do. Finally I opened the HP solution Center went under settings, network settings; opens an ie page with the scanner there. on the left under applications is the scan link. This works for the most part. I found this part after an hour long discussion with hp support in which they insisted my printer was damaged or no longer worked and they would like for me to do a exchange with acredit for my printer. It all amounts to these stupid companies setting up software to disable functions and trying to make us buy more stuff. I know the economy is tough but this is so evil.

Re: Oh for crying out loud scan already darn it!

Hi. I also made a similar thread. We have a business with a main pc that lost its scanning capabilities out of nowhere. It is a 7560 all in one printer. The main computer(s) are all running Windows 7 so the drivers are kind of provided and there are no other drivers that can be used since HP does not offer anything for windows 7 yet from their website and when you try to download any kind of solution center software it says that there is no HP devices connected to the computer so the software barely starts up.. It is very important that we scan here @ our family business. Any solutions for this problem would be greatly appreciated but it feels somewhat easing on us to know that we are not the only ones experiencing this.

Re: Oh for crying out loud scan already darn it!

I see you had this problem even before I purchased my system. I have the same basic problem. I have a HP Pavilon dv6 notebook running Windows 7 Professional with a C4780 All-in-One device. I purchase the notebook and C4780 in Nov 2009. I use the scanner with Adobe Standard 9 and Quicken Deluxe 2010. Up until about a month ago the scanner worked. Now, I can print, but it is as if the scanner does not exist. I uninstalled the device and let Windows find and reinstall it - no joy. I uninstalled the device, downloaded/ran the installation software from HP - no joy. I tried this with a wireless connection and a USB connection - no joy. I tried the diagnostic utilities without success. The utilities cannot find the C4780 on their own. When I tell the utility to run for the C4780, it tells me that a scanner is not hooked up to the system. I accept 'update available' messages from Microsoft Windows, McAfee, HP, and iTunes. I speculate that something changed somewhere in the system's settings to cause this sudden change. Maybe an update caused it, but I have no idea why that that would be. I have been accepting updates for over a year without problem. Any ideas on how to fix this are appreciated.

Re: Want Good Answers? Ask Good Questions!

My printer is hooked up to an XP system using the wireless mode.  I can not scan with it either the computer or from the printer.I would appreciate an answer.
