Re: Phostosmart Premium c309a not scanning

Try downloading the Scan diagnostic utility first. It should give you an idea what the problem is. You can find it where you can download the driver software. If it is a communication problem but you can still print wirelessly then there is something wrong with the driver. Try accessing the GUI of the printer. ie: the IP address of the printer. Open up a browser and type it in on the address bar. Once you have access to the printer's page ther will be an option to do a webscan. You can now scan properly.

This is also true for those computer that does not have a HP solution center. Sometimes it does not work so it is better if you access it on webpage and do scan from there. You can also check the ink level while you're at it. Anyway. HP solution center is mostly for scan, checking ink and utility tools which you can access on the printer's preferences.

Hope this helps.

Keep on hunting.

Re: Phostosmart Premium c309a not scanning to flash drive

I've had this Print-Fax-Scan-Copy unit for a couple of years now and I've had pretty good luck scanning documents and images to a flash drive. However, for some reason I can't get the HP to scan anything to a flash drive.

Three things have been happening after I set the unit to "Scan:" (1) when I insert a flash drive, I get a "Cancel" message telling me that no USB drive has been inserted (even though one obviously was); (2) I'll insert a flash drive with plenty of room on it but will get an error message saying that the drive is full; or (3) the HP will go through the motions of scanning and tell me the scan was successful. However, there's a little yellow triangle with an explanation point above the "success" message, and when I load the flash drive into my computer, the document I just "successfully scanned" is nowhere to be found.

I have only Macs at home and saw on the HP online support that the scanner utility for the HP 309a only works with Windows machines. Has anyone had any problems with scanning to USB flash drives? Thanks.

Re: Phostosmart Premium c309a not scanning

Worked fine for 2 years on my PCs, still works fine on my wife's PC, but scan now only picks up 30% of a page then locks and crashes. I've followed EVERY recommended action several times over, un/re-installed software from CD, from website, and via USB only, and everytime same result, works for 1 test page then does same again. Ran Print and Scan Doctor about 5 times, sometimes finds a problem with 'Twain Scan', sometimes says no problems found, still doesn't scan. To say I am frustrated with this lousy thing is an understatement. Has anyone at HP got a fix??

Here are just a small selection of the error messages I have recieved!
