My scanner works for photos, but it is not understanding the fonts on documents and cannot scan them correctly ~ Hopefully this is just a driver issue, but I have not found a solution yet.
Thank you for your time and assistance with this!

Hi,
I am guessing that you are reffuring to OCR scanning. If the font is not recognized correctly it will not work. The OCR software included with these printers is basic ocr software. Advanced ocr software is really expensive and thus not supplied with the printer as it would make the printer a lot more expensive.
There are some free ocr software programs to be found when searching on google, but if yo need advanced ocr scanning you might need to look at some proffesional software.

Hi! Thank you for helping to answer my question!
Couple of things...
I'm not sure what OCR is?
For more background..My issue is with any font such as W2 forms, typed documents with even the most basic and common fonts. It changes some of the characters (just enough to make it a pain) but not all of them. It was not originally like this and I have used it successfully for a long time - the problem came up last year and I kept thinking I would find a solution. No such luck -
If you have any other ideas please let me know..In the meantime, I'll google some free software options.

HI,
OCr stands for Optical Character Recognition, so tht is the software that enable scanning text into programs like word. This software is dependend on the scanner and as the scanner gets older and the scan quality maybe goes a little lower, you can get in these kind of issues.
Here you can find some free software, http://www.freeocr.net/ Partialy made by HP actually.
