I was having an issue with scanning and applied the service pack entitled slp_dd_hathi_110_017 and it now works. I have a Vista 64 bit. I will say this is the SP applied that worked...I started out with AIO_CDA_Full_Network_enu, Then applied AIO_110_007, then ConvergedIO_HPCOM_V3 and finally the one that worked. I have no idea if just the last one would work or if I needed them allo but it works now so I'm finally happy after fighting with it for 3 days.

Try installing a more recent version of SW, like version 13 available from the Photosmart Premium Fax c309a Vista 64-bit support page. Here's the link: http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareDownloa
I know, the model numbers are different, but the software is compatible with your product too. Just download the SW, leave your product connected, and during the install select "connect device later" when asked to connect the c309a. Which, of course, you'll never connect unless you buy a new c309a. I've seen this tactic resolve a number of issues like the one you're reporting.

Thanks worked for me - I downloaded the software as you suggested - as a first step - no joy at first..
Then back to windows site to look and make sire C6180 compatible - it is and downloaded the update they suggested...
Had done this before but having used your file and then reapplied new C6180 drivers - it now scans and prints - result!

1. I am unable to Scan. Every time I attempt to open the Solutions Center, I get the message 'No HP devices detected.'
2. My printer always goes offline between jobs and requires several restart/ reboot attempts to connect.
I have a C6180, wireless router, dell inspiron 1525
