Photosmart C7280 color copy when I want B&W

When I push the 'Start Copy - Black' button, I get a color copy.  How do I get it to copy in B&W?
I am an HP employee.

Turn off the printer for 3 minutes. Check the ink level for black. Press set up >print report > self test.

Check If it's printing in black. IF not, replace the black ink cartridge. If it prints black and it looks okay, try plugging printer directly to a wall outlet and press start copy black. If it's not working with black, you may have a problem with that button for black since copy color is okay.

So, I unplugged the printer instead of turning it off.  I got distracted and left it for a bit.  When I plugged it back in, I tried copying again and it worked. 

I am an HP employee.
