I am running on Windows 7 64 bit. Never had a problem with the printer until today. I installed a new black HP 60 cartridge. The alignment test failed during the scan step, error says I don't have a proper alignment pattern. I can print, but when I try to scan, the printer hangs, I can't shut it down by pushing the power button. Have to end task by using task manager. I have tried to reboot and unplug the printer. Should I try to reinstall the printer? I seem to remember a new printer driver was installed recently.
Thank you,
Rege

Hi reged,
On the alignment page that printed, did it have both black and color as part of the pattern?

The alignment page only had a black rectangle, no other color. After reinstalling the black cartridge, I reran the alignment test and it worked OK. The new alignment page had colors beside black. Not sure what happpened, but the printer is working OK now.
Thank you,
Rege

Extreme frustration here - D110a worked perfectly for 1 year and 28 days (28 days more than factory warranty). Then, at prompt to change cartridge (# 60 black) I install HP manufactured #60XL purchased at Staples) and get an error that the cartridge is incorrect - The printer has never worked properly again. Not after spending 2-3 hours with tech support, reinstalling drivers AND buying additional new cartridges (i.e needlessly throwing money at the problem) The key frustration in my mind is - absolutely nothing wrong with this printer's performance, showing no irregularities until I was prompted to change the cartridge which I did with HP products.
Anyone got any suggestions - besides buy a new printer - I'd like to make use of my 4 new but opened and unreturnable HP cartridges #60 one plain and one set of XL

Did you ever get a resolution on this? I had EXACTLY the same scenario -- printer goes out of warranty by about one month, I get a notice to change the black cartridge which I do with an authentic HP 60XL cartridge, and the printer never prints black again.
I've cleaned the print heads and scoured the internet for solutions but nothing.
Maybe I should learn my lesson and never buy HP again...

I'm having the same problem with XL 60 in both Black and Colored. I'm having the Cartridge not properly installed come up as well as the paper jam come up. Sad part is that it comes up even when there is no paper anywhere in the machine. Just started doing this after the last update. I've run XL 60s in both for over a year now with no issues until the last couple of months... It was my favorite printer, now it is just garbage... IF I can't get a fix on this, it will definitely be the last HP I purchase.
