Problems with LaserJet M1217nfw MFP - Scanner Resolution and ADF Feeding issues

OS: Windows 7 Pro 64-bit

1st Problem:  Using the TWAIN software, I'm unable to change the resolution of the documents I'm scanning. It only displays 300 and the drop down doesn't offer any other settings. This is having the effect of making every document I scan much larger than it needs to be, and the company I'm uploading them to is complaining about the over-used storage space.  Device MUST be network-based for office use.

2nd Problem: The ADF is VERY picky. If the paper is inserted to the stop, it won't pickup and will keep scanning off the platen/glass. I usually have to re-scan 2 or 3 times to find the 'sweet spot' where it will actually pickup.

I have to say, I was very excited with this product when we first got it, the web-based interface with the drivers loaded on the printer was a great feature and the installation for each machine went very smooth. However, lately this device has become more of a hassle than a time saver.

Follow the steps below.

1. Click Settings

2. Remove check mark from "Show the TWAIN dialog to allow cropping and preveiw scanning"

3. Click the drop down arrow to adjust your DPI settings

Can you feed various pages and have them all scanned into 1 file.  We are getting one file for each page scanned which is not convenient.  What would be the steps?

What happens if you scan to PDF from the ADF?

I have done the suggestion and my file is still scanning huge - in order to see the full page, document needs to be at 17%.  If I use my flatbed, there are no problems.  I usually need to scan about 8-10 pages at a time, so the ADF is the most time efficient way.  The company I scan to can't deal with the large documents in their software.  Is there another way to reduce size or an upgrade in software that may solve the problem?
