Re: Officejet 8500A Plus: how to reduce #MB file size of .pdf files scanned with multiple pages?

Hi All,

After selecting "scan to PDF", click on "Advance Settings". In one of the 3 tabs, (I believe the middle one) says "File Type" selected as "PDF". Here we can see a slider which is set to maximun. So all you have to do is set the slider to minimum or close to it. Now try scanning.

Re: Officejet 8500A Plus: how to reduce #MB file size of .pdf files scanned with multiple pages?

I have found the PERFECT solution for sending ANY file that's too big for email...  Adobe SendNow.  It's free for the basic program, but if you send a lot, get the upgrade...  $10 a month or $100/year.  We've been using it to send multiple video clips.  Works great!!!

This way, you won't have to sacrifice clarity or size...

Re: Reducing file size of scanned documents

I totally need some assistance with reducing the MB of an already scanned file.  I am unable to find the original at this time and can only locate the scanned copy in my dropbox file.  Can anyone help?

I've tried cropping it, adjusting it but to no avail.  When I print the document out to rescan it, it is large and overexceeds the margins (if that makes any sense) and some of the information cuts off.

Signed,

Desperate and Needy

Reducing file size of scanned documents

What type of printer do you have?

You can reduce your file size by
1. Reducing the scan resolution
2.Scan your document in black/white or grayscale

Let me know if this helps you, thanks.

Re: Reducing file size of scanned documents

Hi - I have a HP Officejet pro L7555.  Scans look fine, but click on properties and they are over 20 x 30 inches. I have tried reducing the size from 200 to 100 and that reduces the pdf file size to something like 17 x 25 inches, which is still not 9.5 x 11.  I tried that suggestion of changing the slider on the advanced setting pdf to a lower place, like 1/4, and it is still way too big.

Why would the scanner take a 8.5 x 11 image and change it to a larger one?  There must be a standard way of scanning that does not have this problem.  In normal use, nobody wants to send huge files.

Re: Reducing file size of scanned documents

@DLMartin49 - You will need to change the scan settings to reduce the file size. Page 57 of the user manual shows how to change settings for this printer for both Mac and Windows operating systems.
