Um, no -
I have an HP ScanJet 3500c, and have been trying to get it to work on my Windows 7 machine.
Found the Drivers page - but NO - as of Feb 2012, HP never seems to have written a Win 7 driver for this scanner. And it looks like they don't intend to.
Here I have what was a perfectly fine, running scanner - and for upgrading my OS, I now have a flatbed paperweight. Thanks a lot HP.
Now off to the Epson and Cannon websites to purchase my next scanner....
Nor will my next computer or printer be made by HP either. So there.

I am trying toinstall a 3500c on a Windows 7 machine. It ran fine under Windows XP on my old machine. The installation gives me the following message:
Error 1904, Module C../Window\/SysWOW64\hpgwiamd.dll failed to register. HRESULT - 2147024770
HP's Help site gives some help for Error 1904, but it seems to apply to earlier versions of Windows. In particular, it tells one to edit a key SvcHost in the registry, but I cannot find that key.
Any help would be greaqtly appreciated, either with the registry, if that is the way to go, or anything else useful.

Just using the scanner that shows up is fine for pictures, but there seems to be no way to save it as text. Since I use the scanner mostly for OCR, this doesn't help too much.
The Vue scan seems to work ok, but if you don't buy it for $40 it gives you an indelible watermark in the text telling you to buy the software.
Does anyone have other suggestions?
Since this is an hp forum, why is it that hp does not have a driver for windows 7, since this is now a popular operating system? Or do they just want us to spend more money on a new scanner? If I have to do that you can bet it won't be from hp

I am planning to buy a new computer with Windows 7 and would like to use my scanner (SJ3500c). According to the Win 7 compatability information I received from Microsoft, the scanner is compatable but the driver is not. Will HP be introducing a new driver in the near future?

Ok. I have Windows 7. And I have the HP Scanjet 3500C. There is a driver that will work for this because I am using it right now and it works great. Here it is. It's so easy it's stupid. Just download the driver for Windows Vista and it's a piece of cake. You don't even have to push the button on the scanner to make it scan. Just go to your Hardware on your control panel. Double click the scanner. The control page for the scanner will pop up and your in business. It's Old Skool, but it works great. Happy Scanning :-D ***Here's a place to get you started. It's where I got my driver. http://download.cnet.com/HP-Scanjet-3500c-Series/3

It does NOT work for Windows 7 64-bit.
I installed the Vista 64-bit driver and tried double-clicking the scanner.
It gives me an error that says
"You need a WIA driver to use this device. Please install it from the installation CD or manufacturer's website and try again."
can anyone find a work-around for this scanner?
I already have one for the HP printer that they won't make a driver for that runs on windows 7.

This Vista 64-bit driver works in Windows 7 64-bit. Scanning tested with Windows Live Photo Gallery.
