Re: Scanjet G4050 and Windows 7 (64 bit)

I have the same problem, the sw supplied doesn't work with Windows 7 64 bit.

In the scanner isn't operating the feature dia-negatives because the drivers supplied on www.hp.com/support are basic, only for flat scansion.

The leg-pull is that in the folder L2698-90017 they say: "HP scanners now support Windows 7!!!!!!!

Shame!!!!!

I promise never more HP products until the solution of the problem.

Re: Scanjet G4050 and Windows 7 (64 bit)

I have a problem with my HP Scanjet G4050 . aswell

HP's Scanner and software worked well with XP for the last two years..

I now have a new computer which runs Windows 7 (64bit) . As the original installation disks only went as high as Vista for supported O/S I downloaded  and installed  the latest SW from HP "setup_full_G4000_3.3xe.

The install went OK but when I try to scan from HP's solution center I get a message that Scan.msi is missing.

I am unable to find that file in the installation folder. I then pointed the browser to the Scan.msi file on the original installation disk, but I get a message that this is not the correct file.

I have been using over HP's help processes but can't find a fix for this one. I also searched user forums HP & Microsoft   but the solutions found for those problems don't work for me.

I contacted HP support but as my product is not under warranty anymore they are unwilling to help, unless I pay $39, but even then they are not sure if they can provide me with a fix, Pretty said I'd say.

Dose anyone have a solution for this?

Thanks in advance

Re: Scanjet G4050 and Windows 7 (64 bit)

I have solved my HP G4050 scanner problem.

A few days ago ( Jan 15th 2011) I downloaded HPX software “Setup-full_G4000_3.exe” as my HP installation disk did not include Windows 7 OS.

After downloading and installing that SW  I kept on getting the Windows Message Cant find Scan .msi.

After several days of trying to solve this issue ( unsuccessfully) I decided to download and install the HP SW again.

This time the behaviour of the SW was very different, the HP Solution Center looked differently the scanner icon/ function did not respond at all.

In desperation I went to my Program Files (x64)\ HP\ HP Software Update folder and run a file      “ HPWUCLi.exe”   That initiated the download and installation of files. I had to reboot my computer.  Now  the HP Solution Center displayed icons  for different modes of scanning, i.e. Pictures, Film, Documents and to make copies.

Ant the icons were active and the scanning worked!!!

I am not sure why this additional step was required, but it worked (for me anyways)

I am telling you all this so hopefully if you have a similar problem this step will work for you as well.

I also do not know why the behaviour of “Setup-full_G4000_3.exe” was so different from the original one, maybe HP made some changes in the last few days, but if so they still did not get this quite right as the installation is still a hit and miss thing.

Regards

Rudi

Re: Scanjet G4050 and Windows 7 (64 bit)

Here it is 2013 and the win 7 64bit Full Feature software

(here: http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport/TechSupport/SoftwareIndex.jsp?lang=en&cc=us&prodNameId=3236374&... )

for the HP Scanjet G4050 does not work in win 7 64 bit. Scan doctor activates scanner and confirms that all is correct but when a test scan is tried it fails. Basic driver sw Photosmart does work correctly. Have tried all the compatibility modes in the properties of the install exe to no avail.
Scanner shows in device manager. Computer chirps when any cable is removed from either scanner or computer. Is there any known recent fix to get the full feature software to work and find the scanner or do I have to settle with basic only software.

thanks

Re: Scanjet G4050 and Windows 7 (64 bit)

Hello trickstar

If you are having problems installing or using the driver for the Scanjet G4050 you may be able to receive better help at the HP Business forums. This is the HP consumer forums and there are not that many users familiar with the Scanjet products.

You may find the Commercial Scanjet board here.

Don't forgot to say thanks by giving "Kudos" to those that help solve your problems.

When a solution is found please mark the post that solves your issue.

Re: Scanjet G4050 and Windows 7 (64 bit)

I will gladly give Kudos to anyone who has a solution to this problem. Software that is supposed to work in win 7 64-bit fails.
