HP Officejet Pro 8500

Hi there,

I am using an OfficeJetPro 8500.

When i try to scan a document, i recieve this error code:

Scanner error code 8, [(8, 101, 0)]

I have tried shutting down my laptop (Thinkpad / Lenovo IBM) and re-starting it.  I have tried the same with the printer.  unfortunatley this isn't solving the problem.

The error code also reads: "The SP Scanning application is currently in use or is unavailable.  Close all open programs and try scanning again."

This is not working...

Please help.  🙂

Sincerely,

Jana

Hi @Jana2,

Thanks for reaching out to the HP Support Forums for a solution to your scanning issue.

I understand that you are trying to scan to a windows device with an HP Officejet Pro 8500 All-in-One Printer but are seeing "Scanner error code 8, [(8, 101, 0)" and "The SP Scanning application is currently in use or is unavailable.  Close all open programs and try scanning again". I would like to help with that.

Here is the support document intended for use with this issue - An 'Another program has control of the scanner' Message Displays for HP All-in-One Printers.
