I am running a HP Scanjet 4890 on Windows 7 64-bit. I would like to know if I can manually shut off the scanner lamp to scan an image with backlight. I am scanning Fish Eggs so the TMA won't exactly turn on for me, although that would be helpful as well.
What I really need is the lamp on the scanner to be turned off and on manually so I can scan fish eggs and documents. I can use a external light source for the back light but would not mind trying the TMA.

Hi FishEgg,
No, there is no option to turn off the scanner light when making a scan.
I am an HP employee.
