My problem is intermittent. Sometimes it will work and most times it will not.
- Scan to computer is no longer activated - The network connection...
- Invalid Scan Shortcut - The HP scan application does not contain a shortcut corresponding to your selection...
- Scanner Unreachable - Scanner communication cannot be established...
- Scan to Computer is currently unavaillble - You won't be able to start a scan from the printer. - Cannot connect to the printer. Continuing to try to connect tothe printer. If the problem persists, ensure that your product is powered on and is connected to your network.

Thank you for the information. I have revied the documentation and run the Scan utility.
The scan utility runs without errors when everything is working between the scanner and the PC and no scanner unreachable etc. errors are poping up.
The scan utility fails the HP Twain Scan test when the errors that say the PC is unable to communicate with the printer etc are present as an icon in the systray.
I have Hibernate and systems standby turned off.
I assume I have a good network connection as all the other PC's connect and operate fine between the PC and the All in One on my network.

Hi darrensweeney,
What happens if you install the printer using the USB connection?
May want to check to see if the WIA services are working correctly.
Follow the steps below to check the WIA Service:
1. Type services.msc in run or search program and files
2. Scroll down to the WIA Windows Image Acquisition
3. Make sure that this service is running. Click Stop, and then Restart to make sure
4. Restart the computer
Restart the Dependencies services:
1. Click on Start, in Search box type “services” without quotes.
2. Scroll down until you see Windows Image Acquisition (WIA).
3. Double click on it and go to the tab called Dependencies.
4. 2 services should be listed.
5. Exit that window and look for Remote Procedure Call (RPC).
6. Make sure it’s on manual or if it is on Auto, just leave it. Make sure the service is started though.
7. Go to Shell Hardware Detection and Double click.
8. Set the Start up Type as Manual and hit Apply.
9. You should be able to Start the service by hitting Start.
10. Now you are done and the Twain Manager should be working and not give you an error.
Check dependencies or sub dependencies:
Right click on WIA (Windows Imaging Acquisition) selecting first properties and then the dependencies tab. It should list: Remote Procedure Call RPC and Shell Harward Detection
Under RPC it will then list DCOM Service Process Launcher and RPC Endpoint Mapper Go back to the main services.msc list and then right click and start all the items listed as dependencies or sub dependencies under WIA
*Say thanks by clicking the "Kudos! Star" which is on the left*

Thanks for your help. I am working through this.
I am doing as you say for Restart the Dependencies services, however when I type "sevices" in the search box, I get a lot of choices, none of which are Windows Image Acquisition (WIA).
Can you elaborate on this?

Here are my results (in Red)
Follow the steps below to check the WIA Service:
1. Type services.msc in run or search program and files
2. Scroll down to the WIA Windows Image Acquisition
3. Make sure that this service is running. Click Stop, and then Restart to make sure
4. Restart the computer
Done as instructed.
Restart the Dependencies services:
1. Click on Run, in box type “services.msc” without quotes.
2. Scroll down until you see Windows Image Acquisition (WIA).
3. Double click on it and go to the tab called Dependencies.
4. 2 services should be listed. Only have two services listed. Shell Hardware Detection is not there.
Did this. Had to press Stop before I could press Start.
10. Now you are done and the Twain Manager should be working and not give you an error.
Check dependencies or sub dependencies:
Right click on WIA (Windows Imaging Acquisition) selecting first properties and then the dependencies tab. It should list: Remote Procedure Call RPC and Shell Harward Detection This one is missing
Under RPC it will then list DCOM Service Process Launcher and RPC Endpoint Mapper Go back to the main services.msc list and then right click and start all the items listed as dependencies or sub dependencies under WIA
Not sure if my answers give you any more to go on. I can tell you this. I did not try to connect with a USB cable. I have no trouble using the scanner with 2 other PC's connected on my network to this device. One is WinXP the other is WinVista.
