Hello 6387Rei,

Welcome to the HP Forums!

I understand your Color Laserjet mfp m176n is stating a "Scanner error 22". I will do my best to assist you! Please follow this HP document on A 'Scanner Error 22' Message Displays on the Printer Control Panel. Make sure this printer is plugged into a direct wall, not a surge protector.

If you're still receiving the same problem, then please contact HP technical support for further assistance. Click here to find out: HP Worldwide Contact.

Good luck.

I worked on behalf of HP.

Hello that did not help at all. The printer was broken. Contacted service support and godt a new printer.

For all those with scanner error 22 and run out of waranty like me (for 10 days), this can be a simple problem to solve.

In my case the connector cable of the scanner was loose, because it was stuck on a plastic part covering the scanner cable in the lid. Simply opened the cover and connected the cable again, closed everything and all was up and running fine!

1. Open the scanner lid, and remove the three screws on top.

2. Also on the moving part of the lid there are two screws, remove them also.

3. Then close the lid, and open the full scanner lid to enter the cardridge compartment. Underneath the scanner there are three screws, remove them.

4. Close the lid

5. Now you can slightly lift the scanner compartment (including glass part). There you find the scanner.

6. lift the scanner part slightly and check the flat connector, if removed plug it back in.

7. now close the lid and put screws back.

Attach your printer to power and network, and all works fine!
