HP LaserJet Pro MFP M127fn
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

The Scanner in my HP LaserJet Pro MFP M127fn is not connecting anymore to my laptop. It used to work fine, and give this error once a while. But now it never connects for several weeks. The printing is working fine and there is no problem with the wireless. I have tried connecting the printer with a USB cable to the PC, but still the scanner does not connect. I have of course rebooted my PC several times and tried, but no use. I have uninstalled the MFP driver and re-installed the driver from HP website, but the same problem persists.

I have also gone through your troublehooting resources and used the following:

1. HP Printers - Network Scanner Connection Error (Windows)

http://support.hp.com/ca-en/product/HP-LaserJet-Pro-MFP-M127-series/5396666/model/5303419/document/c...

2. Used the Print and Scan Doctor 5.0

The Print and Scan Doctor shows a red X for Windows (WIA) Scan but I have checked the WIA settings and confirmed that it is enabled and running.

I am done with everything that could be done. Can I please speak to a HP Service resource and get this issue resolved.

This is urgent please. My wife is a self employed person and this is critical for her work.

Hi Krishna20000,

Did you install full istallation or only typical installation?

You will need to do a full installation option in order to have full feature functional install.

I did full installation and can see the scanner utility installed with an icon on the desk top. But when I double click it, it does not connect to the scanner and pulls up an error pop-up saying that it is unable to connect.

What is the warranty on this device. It is about a year old. Can I get a replacement please?

Hi,

Thanks for using the HP Forums.

Was the Laptop OS updated or changed recently?

Can you try using a TCP/IP port?

Create a TCP IP port

1. Print a Configuration Page to get the printer's IPv4 address (you can also tap on the wireless icon on the Front panel of your Printer to get the IP address)
2. On your PC, go to Control Panel, from Devices and Printers, right click the printer and left click Printer Properties, select the Ports tab.
3. Click Add Port, select Standard TCP/IP Port, then select New Port and follow the wizard.
4. Type in the proper IP address for the printer.

This video resource will show you how to do it:

Create & Use TCP IP port

Note that you can ALWAYS revert back to the original port that the HP software installed by selecting the HP port under the Ports tab (in Printer Properties)

Hope that helps!
