For the problem with the duplexer printing the back side upside down send me an email (to bobh@mvps.org) and I will send you patch. Please put the model number and "Vista Duplex" in the subject line.

I am so fed up with their technical "support." They wont answer the most simple question without trying to charge me. I ended up going to a computer store and the sales guy told me how to fix the problem-for free!
I'm with you-I will never buy another HP product.

After almost two months of dealing with HP Customer Support (so called) they finally admitted today (multiple reps) they have a problem with compatibility with their HP Solution Cneter and Windows Vista. Lord knows I wish I would have read these forum pages before I bought my HP Officejet Pro All-in-One L7555 and the issues it has with Vista. However, when I bought the All-in-One I had an older model laptop I was using loaded with Windows XP Professional and had absolutely no problems or issues with the HP Solution Center software. Actually I thought it was pretty amazing compared to other equipment I had been used to using. Then I decided to get a new laptop due to the slow performance of the older one. Unfortunately, I could not get one iwth Windows XP Pro so ended up with Windows Vista Home Premium 64 bit version. And the problems began. Initially all of my problems were with the scanning feature from HP Solution Center not working with Windows Vista. Via tech support while they were testing the functionality of the scanner (which still works, just not thru HP Solution Center) I was able to create a desktop shortcut to be able to scan using hpqscnvw.exe out of the HP Digitail Imaging Bin file. This is limited though. Each time I contact HP support I seem to lose more and more capabilities of the scanner. In addition to HP Solution Center software no longer working for any function of the All-in_one unit, I can no longer fax legal size documents, cannot scan multiple page documents, and cannot get scanner to scan to a PDF document anymore or anything esle than a JPEG or Bitmap (which are absurd docuemtns sizes to the point they cannot even be emailed).
HP tech support prior to them disconnecting after 3.5 hours of phone support (or lack thereof) said that "Senior" level technical support was aware of the compatibility issues with HP Solution Center Software and Windows Vista and were workign on correcting the problems. They would not provide me a contact person though or any type of timetable. The will "copntact me" when the issue is resolved. Hmmm... the printer will most likely be obsolete by then and certainly out of warranty and then they will say , so sorry out of warranty. The scary thing is I bought another HP Printer Photosmart all-in-one for my daughter for Christmans before I had these major service issues with HP and their products. I can see my summer trying to correct issues with that printer too.
Good luck to all of you and may we all live in HP ....... um service paradise, right?

I have had problems from day one with my L7680 and Windows XP all versions and Vista Ultimate 32bit. The printer would work but the fax would not even run self test from a PC. Yesterday I emailed support and they sent me the URL below and it has fixed my problems with faxing on butx XP and Vista.
Here is the URL http://ftp.hp.com/pub/softlib/software9/COL19845/m
2_Full_Net_enu.exe
Note I did not uninstall the original software first. I just installd over it. Sofar t has worked on XP Home SP3 and XP media center SP3 and Vista ultimate 32 Bit.
Hope this helps someone.

I have a Dell running XP service pack 3. I wanted to upgrade my HP6210 to a faster All-In-One plus my flatbed scanner wasn't working anymore. I just purchased the new and expensive OfficeJet Pro 8500 Premier and had great expectations. Yes, it prints and scans faster and the print is very clear. However, the faxing is UNACCEPTABLE. Where is the HP Director that worked so well? I just can not believe that they removed the cover page, preview fax, and view a fax from the fax log!!!
The workarounds of using a hard copy fax cover page or inserting a file cover page if in word are more labor intensive and still don't provide a viewable log.
Before returning this "All-in-One less fax" I have been shopping around for a replacement. I checked Brother, they can generate a cover page, but it is not customizable and their fax log only shows date, number of pages, etc. You can't view a previously sent fax.
Does anyone know of a system out there that does the good job HP Director did?
I have also spoken several times with HP support and have received incorrect information; first they said it was a problem with service pack 3 on XP, then said it was removed from the HP software. They are not very sympathetic either, I was told to check on the return policy from Staples where I bought it. Staples will take it back, but what do I replace it with?

I hope this is a good place to post this inquiry as I just received a new laptop with Vista and will be migrating to Windows 7 when it will be sent to me.....but that is another story. Anyways, I have a very old Officejet TX45xi All-in-One (printer/scanner/fax) machine which I don't really use all that much for faxing and scanning. I would like to use the machine as a printer though.
Does any one know if I can connect this printer to my laptop using a parallel port to USB adapter? Will Vista have enough drivers to support basic printing?
Thanks
