Scanning in Colour

Dear Experts,

I operate on Windows XP Home Edition, Service Pack 3.   My printer is an HP PSC 1510 All in One.  I sometimes scan a newsletter and picture to E/Mail.  Q.  How can I do this in colour, as the scanned picture when sent is in black and white.

NB.  I am an old, self taught, silver surfer.  I was born 75 years too early to understand technical speak.  Many Thanks.

Regards, Fisherman99

Re: Scanning in Colour

Try this:

Color images appear in black and white in the scan preview

A color image can change to black-and-white when cropping inside HP Director, or after it is fully developed. This can happen when an auto-analysis feature detects text within the image and defaults to black-and-white to enhance text output. To resolve the issue, turn off this feature.  Close the scan window.
Click Settings , and then click Scan Settings or Scan Picture Settings .

NOTE:You might need to first click Scan Settings and Preferences to select Scan Picture Settings.

On the Image Type tab, select Bypass analysis and treat all scans as , use the drop-down menu to select Photo , and then click Apply .
Click the Scanning tab.
If selected, clear the check mark from the Automatically set the output type after selection setting, and click OK .

Try again to scan.

If after you complete these steps, the scanned color image appears black and white, turn off the automatic settings on the Scanning tab. To do this, clear the Automatically crop image and the Automatically adjust color settings as described in the Scan colors are faded or brightness level is different from the original section.

Re: Scanning in Colour

Dear Expert,  Many thanks for what I am sure is an excellant reply, if only I could understand it.  I did try to warn you that you cannot assume that I know anything at all, in that way I might work things out.  Only step by step instructions, telling me exactly what to do and where, stand any chance of getting through to my lack of expertise.  Many thanks again for taking the trouble to try and help this poor old soul.   Regards,  fisherman99.

Dear Teacher.  Your pupil has been well taught.  To be honest, I am not quite sure how I did it, but with your help and a bit of luck, I have solved the problem.  Many thanks, Regards
