Scanning message - Object reference not set to an instance of the object

Scanning appears to take place .... the message block saying "Scan / Done" shows up .... HP Image Zone opens up and then this message appears ... " The program has encountered an unexpected error. Object reference not set to an instance of the object. " The HP Image Zone closes.

 

I have unistalled and reloaded the software and still the messages appear ... any suggestions as to how to deal with this malfunction appreciated ....  this is occuring with a HP PSC 1510  all in one printer
