I am using the C7180 All-In-One set up on a wireless network. I am having a problem with the scanning function. Specifically I start the Solution Center application, Click Scan Picture, and the HP Scanning application starts. It then displays the scanner application with "Preparing to Scan" notification. This is as far as it goes, it never actually does the scan. If I then close the scanning application, and restart it I get a message that the scanner is busy and I should wait. A reboot is required to try again, but the same issues occur. I have check for the latest drivers and applications and have the latest.
This appears to be a communication issue between the printer/scanner and Window XP. I say that because if I try from the scanner to "Scan to Computer" and select by computer it also fails with a message appearing on the computer that the scanner is busy.
Is there a fix/set of recommended procedures for resolving this issue?

try to run the hpqscnvw.exe or the hpiscnapp.exe file located under C:\Program Files\HP\Digital Imaging\bin. If this doesnt work, then run the Uninstall_L2 file located in the installation CD under X:\util\ccc ['X' denoting the drive letter of your CD drive], and then reinstall the software.

also, make sure the Digital imaging Monitor icon is present in your system tray. or you can see if it is running in the Task Manager by looking for hpqtra08.exe. this program HAS to be running for 2-way communication between the printer and computer to take place, and thus the scanning to work. if hpqtra08.exe is not running, then you can find it in C:\Program Files\HP\Digital Imaging\bin.

This file is related to Scanning fie in version 11.0.
As you are using the C7180 , the file name is hpqscnvw.
If you are able to scan , then it is fine.
