Scanning photos to computer. Scanner crops the photo

I have an hp Photosmart 5510 e All-in-One Series printer.  I am trying to scan photos into my computer but it keeps cropping the image.  I can alter the photo size if I want to print out the image, so there is no cropping on printing, but this doesn't appear to be an option with the scanner.  Can anyone help?

I assume you are using a Macintosh computer?

Please clarify the exact OS version.

Please install the following update first, in order to successfully modify the scan settings:

http://ftp.hp.com/pub/softlib/software12/COL41822/mp-101637-1/HP_Scan_for_Mac_OS_X_10.7_Update.dmg

Once the update been installed, follow the steps below:

1. Open the HP Utility and select your device.
2. From Scan Settings open the "Scan to Computer".
3. Click the "Scan Tasks" tab.
4. Select the Scan Shortcut used to scan, then click Edit.
5. In the section of Scan from an HP Device click on the blue triangle to enlarge the menu.
6. From the enlarged menu now open the drop-down menu next to Crop To and set as None.
7. Click OK and try scanning

The UK HP Helpdesk advised me on April 27 2012 to control scanning from the Mac end using HP Scan, saying they did not support scanning from the HP5510 end.

You solution was crystal clear and it solved my problem completely.  Many thanks to you.
