Hi khartman,

Thank you for the quick reply!!

If you installed using the software CD, you would have the full feature software installed.

If you're scanning as a PDF, you would have to open the document within Adobe Reader (or another PDF document reader program). If you are opening it in Adobe and it's scrambled still, I would suggest making sure your Adobe Reader and Adobe Flash Player are up to date through this Adobe Update page.

If you're wanting to scan a document so you can edit it, you'd want to have a look at this How to Scan: Windows 7 document, click on How to scan with HP software, then How to scan as editable text (OCR) to see how to do that.

Let me know how this goes Smiley Happy

Hi khartman,

I understand you have an HP printer, and when scanning with it, you're not able to open scans in Word without them being scrambled. I will certainly do my best to assist you with this, I just need to ask a few questions to assist you better!

1. Which model of HP printer are you working with?

2. Have you installed the full feature HP software for your printer?

3. Which version of Windows or Mac are you dealing with?

4. Are you scanning the document in as Editable Text?

Once I have this information I should be able to offer some suggestions!

HP Office Jet Pro 8600

I downloaded the cd that came with the printer.  How do I check if full feature software is on computer?

Windows 7 Professional

Scanning document as PDF file - that's when I open the document and its scrambled.  I can scan a document as a jpeg but need to scan as PDF for work.

Thanks,
