Slow transmission of images from scanner to pc

Good day to all.

I have an Hp Scanjet  N8420 scanner installed on a pc running windows 2000 os.

My main problem is the time taken for the images to leave the scanner to the pc. It takes more than 50 seconds before pop-uo window appears on the pc.

What can be the problem and how can it be resolved?

What resolution are you using to scan?  Are you scanning on a heavily-loaded network?

Hi, i use 200dpi for scanning and the scanner in locally installed, not on a network.

I apologize I confused the N8420 with a different product.  What software are you using to scan?  Are you using HP SDSS?

I use the "HP Document Copy" for the meantime.
