Hi again, I just went into my C drive & found 'Twain_32.dll'. It had a folder in it & 3 files, none of which would show the scanner or any hardware.

Hi Fishes1,
Do you have the same issues when you install this printer on a different computer?

Hi PCWizard, The scanner works on both my daughter HP & my husband's Gateway. It only does not work on my Samsung, which is where the rub is. You see, I am the only one that uses it. Neither my husband or daughter need to scan anything. I am the one who is responsible for all the scanning that needs to be done. And that is why it is my computer that won't recognize it. Why?

Hi Fishes1,
This is an indication that something in the operating system is contributing to the installation failure on your computer. Have you considered backing up your data, and run a full system recovery on your computer?

It worked fine until I brought it to the Geek Squad. They found that my hard drive had a bad track & replaced it with a new hard drive. They then installed the new OS disk from Samsung, along with my other disks, i.e. Office, virus protection, & printer. They could not use my old disk because it was for Windows XP & I now have '7'. They downloaded the new drivers, but insisted that I bring them in the hp-all-in-one for them to do it. They also installed the printer software on both my husband's & daughter's computers. At first, even the printer would not work on anyones, but after the info I got from you guys, I was able to delete & reload the software so that everyones computer now can print on the hp, but unfortunately, mine still won't recognize the scanner. We all have windows 7. As you can see, I have already just reformated my hard drive and have finally gotten everything back on it. You want me to redo it again!

Hi Fishes1,
I can truly understand your concerns with this. We have tried all possible solutions to get this printer installed correctly on this computer. The only thing I can suggest is to re-run the steps I provided below. If you continue to have this issue then there is something on this computer contributing to the installation failure.
Try using the scrubber built into the CD or Download.
From Original installation CD:
1. Insert CD into drive, and then cancel the installer
2. Open My Computer, and then right click on the CD drive and chose open
3. Open folder Util
4. Open folder CCC
5. If you have an HP computer run the L3uninstall.exe. If you have a non-HP computer run the L4uninstall.exe
6. When the uninstall has completed restart the computer
7. Run Disk cleanup from Accessories\ System Tools
8. Download and install the latest version of Adobe flash player
http://www.adobe.com/support/flashplayer/downloads.html
9. Download the full feature software and drivers
10. Run the download to reinstall the printer
If software was downloaded and extracted to your system:
1. Type %temp% in the run field
2. Look for, and open the folder starting with 7z (Example: 7zS2356)
3. Open folder Util
4. Open folder CCC
5. If you have an HP computer run the L3uninstall.exe. If you have a non-HP computer run the L4uninstall.exe
6. When the uninstall has completed restart the computer
7. Run Disk cleanup from Accessories\ System Tools
8. Download and install the latest version of Adobe flash player
http://www.adobe.com/support/flashplayer/downloads.html
9. Download the full feature software and drivers
10. Run the download to reinstall the printer
