Trouble with fax after loading software

I have had my HP 4500 for awhile.  Never had any trouble with the fax.  A few days ago I finally loaded the software that came with it, and now my fax doesn't seem to be able to receive.  The machine rings about 5or 6 times, seems like it is connnecting, but everytime I get "failed"...

 

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!
