HP scanjet 4470c - Working in Windows 7 [ Edited ]

Hi

My drivers are from HP. I've not found any 'unofficial' driver for my purpose ..

Ii enclose ,herewith,  another time, a rapidshare link for the drivers I'm using in this PC, but valid only for HP4400c and 3200c. I've a silly idea..You maY..try to replace inf file with the one of hp4700..?? I'Ve no idea if this trick  is working, but, replacing an inf file I've succeeded to install a FIR port (Windows7) in a laptop Compaq EVO N610c!!!

Unfortunately I'm very... chaotic  and my drives and flashpen are full of disordered files, but this fact is not negative for Windows7 which finds ,very often, the necessary drivers I need....

According to my opinion Windows7 is much  better than Vista (I hate Vista, for several reasons...)

Another stupid idea:.. When I installl an O.S(in a laptop or a desktop) my instllations are always clean, infact I format any partition and reinstall only Windows and my favorite programs, without any OEM  Brand tool ..!!! ( HP tools are often invasive.......)For recovering my PC I us Acronis True Image (very good for me)

Then I download and install the last verion of XP-Antispy

(free) in order to disable UAc and any  other 'inutility', besides I use a classic shell for windows 7

In spite of all this , PrecisionScan Pro still didn' t work for me . It works though but after a few successful scans , the scanner stops running and I need then to disconnect the device , reboot my pc and reconnect the scanner . I don' t have this problem in WIA mode  and will continue using my device this way for most operations , using a twain program such as Freekapture . Scanning slides or negatives is done with my XP OS . Please note I own model 4470c ( not 4700 ) .

As a general info , I can use indifferently sj659 or sj668 for models 4400c , 4470c , 5400c , 5470c with best results using sj668en.exe dowloaded not from HP but from CNET , with a compatiblilty up to Vista Pack 2 . Other drivers I tried won't do it .

My scanner is 4400c, but I've added the tool for slides and negatives, from another HP (broken) scanner , and also this tool works  well enough. Here, at home, I've no problems, in fact  I've XP Pro Sp3 and another 4400c, perfectly working, but very dirty , because I'm..a great smoker (unfortunately) . I've to clean mirrors and flatbed glass: there are some yellow stripes, caused by..too many. sigarettes.......

Hi all ,

I'm back again on this subject : HP scanjet 4470c . I'm now owning 1 pc win XP and W 7 32 bit and 1 pc Win XP and W 7 64 bit .

Nothing works under 64 bit , so my " solution " is only valuable under 32 bit .

Well, I tried the 5740c XP driver in Windows 7 64 bit but did not work. Now I have another problem, I can't uninstall Precisionscan software, although I have administrator privileges, at the uninstall it says: You do not have enough privileges to run this application, contact the administrator...

How can I uninstall the software?

I use RevoUninstaller removal tool from http://download.cnet.com/Revo-Uninstaller/3000-2096_4-10687648.html .

Works fine under Windows 7. You could try it . It's free . Once installed , run it as administrator and use the 4th option when first window opens . If you still get the Administrator privileges message , ignore it and click on next . Revo will eliminate all PecisionScan files from the registry .

Unfortunately , no . The manufacturer's production stops at XP . There's still a small chance but only under a 32-bit system .
