Hi,
Are you placing the original directly on the scan bed, or through an automatic document feeder?
Have you tried cleaning the scan glass with a mild glass cleaner?
If you're using an adf feeder you may have to open the cover and clean the rollers inside... there should be some document available on this website under support and troubleshooting.
When you make a photo coppy do you have the same problem? If yes then there is definitely something hardware related going on, if no, then there's something going on with the software.
You could also try a full power reset which entails disconnecting the power cord from the back of the printer , from the power supply box (if it has one) and from the wall outlet, leave everything disconnected for about 30 seconds then plug back in. Also it helps to have the printer plugged directly into a wall outlet.
Hope this helps!1![]()
