Recently upgraded my computer to an HP 500-242 A8 and now running windows 8. Previous HP Deskjet F380 printer still works with this new pc but have lost HP Digital Imaging Monitor and want to be able to scan  documents ect.  Can you tell if and where I can download the correct software to work with this new device.

Hello Silver55,

Welcome to the HP Forums!

I understand you have lost the Digital Imaging Monitor on your computer. I will do my best to assist you! Please follow these steps:

  1. If the HP DIM icon does not appear, follow these steps
  2. Touch the Windows Key then start typing  msconfig , and then click OK .
  3. In the System Configuration Utility window, click the Startup tab
  4. Search the list for HP Digital Imaging Monitor .
  5. If HP Digital Imaging Monitor is not on the list , the driver was not correctly installed or a custom install was used. You need to reinstall the software.

If the HP Digital Imaging Monitor is on the list , continue with these steps:

  1. Select the HP Digital Imaging Monitor check box.
  2. Click Apply , and then click Close .
  3. Click Restart to restart the computer.
  4. Try to scan again.

Please post your results as I will assist you further!

I worked on behalf of HP.
