Why do my pictures come out smaller in mail when sent to windows live mail When i scan them

I have Window 7 64-bit  I have the HP Envy 114   Every time i scan a picture it goes to Window Live Mail  and when they get it , It is so small they can,t use it or see it what can i do Thank You
