Everything worked fine on my 7410 before I upgraded to Windows 7 (Windows XP).
Almost everything works now except if I try to scan multiple pages. It scans all the pages and then after finishing the last one I get the error:
"An error occurred while communicating with the HP imaging device. Try the following steps.... "
Extended error information 4,[(0,12,80004005),(2,7,80040007)]
I have rebooted everthing, reinstalled the driver, installed the .dll patch recomended on a similar problem. I need my scanner for work and it's a serious problem if this does not work soon.
PLEASE HELP!

I have the same problem and did everything you did. I wish there was some way we could communicate directly to HP. I am weary of HP software problems. Id you ever figure out a solution?

On the other thread someone replied that the problem was residual files from pre system 7. I asked him to clarify but no response yet...

I also can't make a multiple page scan using Win 7 AIO software including the fixes for scanning listed on the other thread.
I purchased a new disk to load Win 7 x64 on my laptop and loaded the WIN 7 AIO drivers and software and magically the HP Director software for scanning allowed me to make multiple scans on the same printer. Only major difference was that the AIO software was loaded on a clean installation of Win 7.
The symptons indicate that either older objects are not being replaced in installation, older objects are not truly being removed during uninstall of the previous driver code which may lead to errors or problems with opening ports on firewall software.

I have the same problem, particularly with multi-page scans to .pdf. I have done everything the error message suggests, but nothing works. I hope HP posts a solution soon or I'll have to go back to Vista.

you mean you can scan to PDF and in multiple pages??? I was trying for the longest time (nearly 4 weeks) till I got so tired that I just gave up and went back to XP because I could not work properly.

Been trying to figure this out as well. Then went into the HP Solution Center /Settings/Scan Preferences and unselected "Prompt for additonal pages" on document and picture scans and it seems to avoid that error message ..... of course this is a bug in the software. Does HP support ever read these?
